Funds raised through HOTS events support the programs of the American Cancer Society.

  • As a pre-function to your local Warren Miller movie
  • As a “get excited for the winter!” ski/board promotion
  • Consider a percentage of sales going to the HOTS charity
  • Have volunteers greet and buss tables, in exchange for a percentage to HOTS
  • Have a silent auction, raffle, or other fundraiser
  • Show ski/board movies (need audio-visual equipment capabilities.
  • Promote the fundraising event to your clientele through social media and other forms of promotion
  • Work with local HOTS ski resort to co-promote

2. Skiers/Boarder HOTS volunteer participants who would like to gather their Team, friends, relatives and work associates for a HOTS fundraiser may know the owner of a restaurant or pub who would host the event. If you can make the connection, HOTS will work with the restaurant regarding logistics and promotion.

3. Major Employers may wish to organize an off-site gathering of their skier and boarder employees, families, and friends. Enjoy some time together outside of the office in a social setting, for a worthy cause.

Students: Start a Team at your School, College, or University



Organize Teams of up to ten participants. Multiple teams within a school can compete against each other for top funds raised and vertical feet. Contact your friends at other schools to form a friendly competition as well. Students can raise funds to support HOTS and the American Cancer Society through various activities. Advanced education and future employers place high regard for students who show an interest and participate in community service.

1. Organize bake sales, car washes, and ask your friends and relatives to support your efforts in the fight against cancer.

2. Host a ski/board movie at your school or house party and ask for donations (Contact Charlene Piercy for information). Sell tickets in advance.

3. 18 or older, or in conjunction with parents—work with a local restaurant to host a silent auction and view a movie. Many restaurants offer a percentage of the evenings revenues to go a worthy non-profit charity cause

4. Set up a table at school or on campus and ask passers-by to donate and dedicate a flag (supplied by HOTS) to be placed in remembrance of a friend or relative.

5. Ask your local ski/board shop or business if you can set up a table to create awareness of cancer and support your fundraising efforts. Ask the ski/board shop if they will form a team as well.

Many skiers and boarders are members of golf clubs or active golfers. During the winter, these clubs often organize mid-week and weekend ski busses for adults.

2. Attendees may come dressed in ski and board clothes (rather than the traditional black tie and dress.

3. Offer awards for oldest ski clothes, rarest equipment worn, etc. Have fun with the ideas.
